Believe it or not the Bible says in Malichi 3:2 that God is like laundry detergent.  When I read that, I thought laundry detergent? Who has ever considered that our Heavenly Father is like soap? So, I thought if He is like soap then I should find out what soap claims to do for our clothes and compare that to what God promises to do for our lives when we serve Him.  Some of the laundry products in my utility room made the following claims:

1.  Powerfully Clean
2. Naturally Fresh
3. The Standard of Purity
4. Dirt Lift Action
5. Helps Remove Old Stains
6. Eliminates Odors (Makes things smell better.)
7. Whiter/Brighter

God’s Promises:

1.  If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  1 John 1:9  (He makes us powerfully clean.) 
2. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.  2 Corinthians 5:17 (He gives us a fresh start)
3. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.  Psalm 19:8 (He is the standard of purity)
4. He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill;  Psalm 113:7  (He has dirt lifting action)
5. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath He removed our transgressions from us.  Psalm 103:12  (He removes old stains)
6. Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savor of his knowledge by us in every place for we are unto God a sweet savor of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:  2 Corinthians 2:14-15  (He makes us a sweet smell)
7. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.  Isaiah 1:18   (He makes us whiter)
